The hydrogen network is taking shape

Hydrogen is becoming one of the cornerstones of the energy transition. As a climate-neutral raw material, energy carrier, and storage solution for renewable energies — its potential across all sectors is enormous. A powerful hydrogen network is the key to unlocking these opportunities and ensuring security of supply. Nowega is among the companies leading the way in building this future network. We already have extensive expertise in planning hydrogen networks and connection pipelines. The first pipelines of the hydrogen core network have already been newly constructed or converted by us.

Network expansion step by step

Through successive network development, with maximum use of existing infrastructure (approx. 90% of the planned pipeline system), we are building a powerful infrastructure for the transportation of hydrogen. The pipelines are part of the hydrogen core network planned by German transmission system operators. Further information is available from the Association of Gas Transmission System Operators FNB Gas e.V. This map shows the hydrogen pipelines we have planned, along with an overview of which section is scheduled for completion in which year. Clicking on individual areas leads to a detailed overview of the projects.

Our hydrogen projects in the regions

Emsland

We are enabling one of the first hydrogen transports in the hydrogen core network. The pipeline, funded under the IPCEI programme, transports hydrogen produced in Lingen to consumers in many parts of Germany.

more

DümmerWeserLand

We supply regional businesses along important value chains. Distribution network operators and companies benefit from our converted pipelines and the interregionally transported hydrogen.

more

Mittelweser

We are creating a central corridor of pipeline infrastructure and strengthening interregional transport capacities. The west-east connection contributes to Germany’s energy transition.

more

Münsterland

We connect the energy-intensive Ruhr region with hydrogen sources in the north and enable connection to the IPCEI-funded cavern storage facility in Epe. One of the first cavern storage facilities for hydrogen in Germany will thus be connected.

more

Osnabrücker Land

We are creating reliable prospects for industry and downstream network operators. The converted pipeline infrastructure provides a future-proof path for supply, growth, and transformation.

more

Hannover Region

We provide key transport capacities for connecting central Germany to the production and import region of north-west Germany. This 75.7 km pipeline supplies local businesses as well as major industries in eastern Germany with hydrogen.
